William "Bill" John Jeffreys, 69, of Tunkhannock, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, following a brief battle with cancer.
Born on June 7, 1957, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Bill was known and loved by countless people throughout the community.
In 1983, he and his wife, Barb, made Tunkhannock their home and proudly owned and operated Plaza Beverage for 38 years. To many, Bill was simply "the beer man," always ready with a joke, a witty comeback, and a friendly conversation.
Bill's greatest love was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barb; his son and daughter-in-law, Billy Jeffreys and Christie Cokely; his daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Amanda Cotton; and his beloved grandchildren, Levi, Luca, and Maverick, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Haraschak; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Dave Carsia; several nieces and nephews and many friends whom he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Jeffreys; his brother-in-law, Emil Haraschak; and his nephew, Jeffrey Haraschak.
Outside of work, Bill was happiest at his cabin, his favorite place in the world. He spent countless hours maintaining the property so family and friends could enjoy it alongside him. He was always involved in something-golf, softball, darts, hunting, fishing, riding side-by-sides, snowmobiles, and four-wheelers. His family agrees that one of the many things they will miss most is his company, his humor, and his impossibly high standards for mowing the lawn. He wasn't just someone people knew, he was someone people loved. He made life brighter for everyone around him.
Bill was a member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge 1276, Meshoppen Rod and Gun Club, Factoryville Sportsmen's Club, Towanda Rod and Gun Club, Black Walnut American Legion Post 510 and NRA.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal services. A private celebration of life will be held by his family at a later date. Bill was always a sucker for a good time, and his family intends to honor those wishes well.
Prior to his passing, he wanted to make sure we thanked the doctors at Robert Packer Hospital and staff on 5M for taking such good care of him.
His laughter, stories, generosity, and friendship will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
