W. Mike Ward, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on June 23, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mike was the only child of Mike and Helen (Gradel) Ward.
He was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, retiring with the rank of Corporal after two years of service. Following his military service, Mike dedicated 42 years of his life to the Reading/Conrail Railroad, retiring at the age of 60.
Mike and his beloved wife of 67 years, Peg (McCabe) Ward, built a beautiful life together in Roslyn, Pennsylvania, before settling into retirement at the Peter Becker Retirement Community in Harleysville, PA. Together, they shared a passion for travel, exploring all 50 states, over 100 countries around the world and countless cruises.
Mike is survived by Peg and their three sons: Kevin (wife Kathy Dauber), Michael (wife Georgia Spolsky), and John (wife Sara Davis). He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and a joyful great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren.
Known for his unwavering faith, boundless optimism, and deep love of life, Mike was cherished by all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Mass in Mike's honor will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Chapel at Peter Becker Retirement Community, 800 Maple Avenue, Harleysville, PA 19438. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with Mass to follow at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to the Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund or a charity of your choice.
