Richard Illig

Richard Julian Illig, aged 71 of Steelton, PA passed peacefully at home on May 18, 2025. Richard was born on October 20, 1953, in Johnstown, PA.

A 1972 graduate of Bishop-McCort High School, Richard went on to receive a degree in Chemistry from the University of Dayton. He worked as a chef at the Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown and then later went to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where he was employed as an inspector for the Department of Environmental Protection. Richard loved and raised Siamese cats and enjoyed cooking and sharing his gourmet creations with family, friends,and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Julian Illig, his father, Donald Patrick Illig, and a sister, Carolyn Ann Illig Watts. Richard is survived by brothers Robert Michael Paul Illig of Petersburg WV, and Donald Patrick Joseph Illig, Jr. (Charlotte) of Lynchburg, VA, two nieces and four nephews. Richard's light and love will be missed by all who knew him.
