Maurice Edward Meeker passed away Friday Dec 9, 2016 at home in Bechtelsville PA. He was born Oct 24 1933 in Pottstown, PA. He lived in Upper Pottsgrove Township until he moved to Ulster, PA about 13 years ago and had recently returned to the area. He graduated from Pottstown School District June 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1955 to 1956 as a radar man in Alaska. He loved farming and made farming one of his lifelong careers. He retired from Doehlar Jarvis-Farley industries and served as a supervisor/commissioner in Upper Pottsgrove Township for over 20 years. He was also a school bus driver and oil truck driver. He was a respected man known for his simple, common sense approach to life. He cherished his family and made them his priority no matter how much he worked. He enjoyed family outings, vacations, baseball and golf. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan M (Overholtzer) Meeker. They were married July 15 1962 in Cedar Grove Chapel, Pottstown, PA. He is also survived by 2 daughters, Lisa K (James) Hathaway and Marjorie L (Leonard) Wahlig , 1 son, Tracey A (Ronald Knight), and 1 sister, Marilyn (Joseph) Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thrygve Herman Meeker and Mabel Josephine Macintire, 3 brothers-Thrygve, John Theodore and Lawrence Meeker and 1 sister, Marjorie Middler. A memorial service may be held at a later date. Cremation services handled by Cremation Specialists of PA.
