Matthew Bechtold

Born on June 16, 1967, Matthew Todd Bechtold, age 58, of Allentown, PA left this world to be with our Lord and Savior on May 14, 2026. He lived a life marked by love for his family, a passion for carpentry and fishing, and a steadfast faith in Christ.

A skilled carpenter, he took great pride in working with his hands and creating things that would last. An avid fisherman, he found peace on the water and cherished the simple joys of nature. Whether he was building, repairing, or crafting something with care, he found satisfaction in a job well done.

Throughout his life, Matthew faced many challenges and struggles with addiction. While his journey was not always easy, those who knew him understood the strength it took to continue moving forward. Through it all, he held onto his faith in Jesus Christ and found hope in God's grace, mercy, and forgiveness.

He is survived by his daughter, Tessa Bechtold-Brown (Christian) and his son Kevin Benjamin (Emily), his beloved grandchildren, Sawyer, Owen, Alice, and Theodore, who brought him tremendous joy and pride. He is also survived by his sister, Cindee Zenz (Anthony); his brother, Timothy Bechtold; and his cherished nieces, Jessica, Katie, and Erica, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his daughter's beloved bulldog, Buttercup, who held a special place in his heart and whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlene Bechtold and James Bechtold.

Matt will be remembered for his love of family, his craftsmanship, his enjoyment of fishing, his resilience, his gentleness, his compassion, and his faith. His family finds comfort in knowing that God's love is greater than our struggles and that he now rests in eternal peace.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
