Massimo "Max" Gera, 77, of Long Pond, passed away at his home on July 18th, 2022.

An Italian citizen and something of a renaissance man, Max came to the United States as a young man. A self-taught engineer, musician, and eventually computer programmer, he made a living for much of his life as a mechanical engineer and machinist. He is perhaps best-remembered in such circles for his invention of the .44 Auto Mag Pistol, famously featured in the fourth "Dirty Harry" movie.

Max was a lover of nature and the outdoors, and spent the latter part of his life in a house he maintained on a heavily-wooded plot of land deep in the Poconos with his beloved dog, "Indy", and various other animals.

He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, who passed in 2007, and survived by his daughter, J'on of San Jose, CA, and son, Max of San Francisco, CA.

There will be no services, and in lieu of memorial remembrances the family requests that you make a donation to https://www.saintrescue.org/
