Joy C. Sandner, 82, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, October 26, 2024 surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 21, 1942, in Spangler, PA, the daughter of the late Alton Arvid and Grace (Beachum) Carlson sister to Charles Carlson (Vickie), Ingrid Epperson (Carl), Kathy Hrala (Frank) and preceded in death by sister Patricia Aloisio (Mike).

Joy loved Jesus, her family, and friends. She lived up to her name, always showing the Joy of Christ to everyone she interacted with. She spent her time taking care of others with compassion and kindness both personally and professionally as a nurse.  She treasured time with family and friends, playing cards, attending Bible study, small group and early morning prayer.  She was known for her hospitality, always serving others despite the trials and suffering she had to overcome.

Joy is survived by her loving husband, H. Howard Sandner, Jr., with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, and her children Ellen Longjohn (Jeff), Kara Walther (Dean), Stacey Smith (Cordell), grandchildren Nicholas Walther (Devin), Nathaniel Longjohn (Deanna), Bradley Walther (Sophie), Christina Longjohn, Andrew Longjohn, Jason Walther (Lexi), Braden Smith, Elaina Longjohn, Logan Smith, Cody Smith, and  great grandchildren Peyton and Samuel Walther.

Friends and family will be received on Monday November 4, 2024, from 10:00-11:30 visitation ,11:45 tribute from Allegheny Angels and service at 12:00 at North Way Christian Community 12121 Perry Highway, Wexford PA 15090.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to North Way Christian Community in support of the Senior Care or Global Mission ministries.
