Georjann J. (Kniffin) Marcellus

Georjann J. Kniffin Marcellus, age 70, passed away on February 15, 2023, surrounded by her family in Sweet Valley, PA, having lived most of her life in Upstate New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Kniffin and Muriel Morris Kniffin. She is survived by her brother Jamie Kniffin (Mary Lou) of Panama City Beach, Fl, her brother James Kniffin of Hackensack, NJ and her brother, Billy, and sister, Sharon, of Upstate New York.

Left to cherish her memory are her partner/fiancé of many years, James Mathis, her six children, Marc DeBates (Deb), Nie’cole DeBates, Michelle Crawford (Tim), Barbara DeBates, Charles DeBates (Jacquelyn) and James TenEyck, and her two nieces, Elizabeth Kniffin and Corinna Kniffin. In addition, she was the proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Georjann received a B.A. in Psychology from Plattsburgh State University. As such, she spent her years encouraging others to be kind and accepting of one another. She was very generous, loving, caring and graciously helped anyone in need. Georjann was also very creative and enjoyed making crafts for family and friends. Gardening, cooking, and spending time with family were some of her greatest joys.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY for her immediate family on April 7, 2023.
