While back home in Burnham, he spotted his stepmother's old car, the car he had hoped would be his one day. He stopped to meet the new owner, Sue, and he got not only the car but also his beautiful wife, Sue, of 61 years.

Cork began his work career with the IRS and then moved on to the insurance business with Indianapolis Life Insurance. He went on to have a 40-year career with Nationwide Insurance. He loved his job and loved connecting with customers and talking with them when they stopped in the office. He loved it so much he waited until age 81 to retire.

Throughout his life, Cork was an avid athlete. He loved Rec Hall in State College where he played handball and would bring the kids along to run the track and play racquetball. He discovered hiking and tackled most of the highest peaks in the country. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family and his grandkids and spent many wonderful days hiking and seeing the beauty of the country. Cork was also a big bicyclist, spending many weekend mornings biking the Heritage trail in York. He would go out for a ride and end up riding 80 miles.

Cork and Sue were avid travelers, seeing many states in the U.S. as well as Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
