David John Ambrose

d. Aug 15, 2026

David John Ambrose, 63, passed away in Stroudsburg, PA on August 15, 2026. David is remembered for his fierce love of the New York Football Giants, and outdoorsy spirit.

David was born on March 21, 1963 in Verona, NJ. He spent the majority of his childhood in Cedar Knolls, NJ where he graduated from Whippany Park High School in 1980. David went on to have a 17 year career at Morris Township Police Department, his time with the MTPD included assisting in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. He spent his retirement continuing his hobby of building furniture, and journaling his favorite memories with his children.

David is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Ernest and Marianna Ambrose. He is survived by his children, their partners, and grandchild: Kimberly Dolphin (Blair Dolphin, Bria Dolphin), Erin Ambrose (Scott Vanzant) and Robert Ambrose. David is also survived by his ex-wife, Deb Ambrose, and siblings and their partners: Greg Ambrose, Jan Winquest (John Winquest), and Maire Havener as well as his nieces and nephews.

David's ashes will be spread privately by his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his children ask that you donate to the National Alliance on Mental Illness: https://donate.nami.org/give/197406#!/donation/checkout?utm_source=bodyLink&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=DonationTracking&c_src=WEBGIDD or the SAFE Project: https://www.safeproject.us/donate/ Most importantly, his children ask that you continue having open and honest conversations about mental health and addiction. May his memory remind us to lead with compassion, to reach out to those who are struggling, and to hold close those who carry the heartache left behind.

To our dad: We wish this life had given you more time, more healing, and more peace. We will carry the love, grieve what was lost, and remember what might have been. May you finally be at rest.
