Cyril F. Kepic Sr., of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Dalton, passed away peacefully June 8, 2018, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in the presence of loving family members. Cy was loved by many and liked by all who met him. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and, after World War II, worked at Sprague & Henwood and Acker Drill. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Florida to enjoy the sunny winters and snowbird the summers in Pennsylvania. Cy was born in Dunmore on Sept. 15, 1927, to Francis Kepic and Anna (Kolesar) Kepic and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He had fond memories of playing baseball with the local Bucktown Twilight League, where his slugging ability earned him the nickname "Babe." Cy enjoyed sports and could regularly be seen playing cornhole even at the age of 90. He was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cy was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Anna Kepic; loving wife, Shirley (Blaskiewicz) Kepic; son, Cyril Kepic Jr.; son-in-law, Peter (Nanni) Kepic; sisters, Josephine Pichocki, Ann Chesek, Margaret Moher and Marion Savas; and brothers, Joseph and John Kepic. He is survived by his sister in-law, Ann Kepic, Dunmore; daughter, Mary Lynn (Kepic) Weidner and husband, John Weidner, Lake Ariel; sons, Steven Kepic, Dallas, Pa.; and Paul Kepic and his wife, Susan (Franzer) Kepic, Southlake, Texas; daughter in-law, Brandy (Bailey) Kepic, Brandon, Fla.; his grandchildren, Timothy Bray and his wife, Aimee (Smith) Bray, High Point, N.C.; Matthew Kepic, Winchester, Va.; Cindi Kepic, Lansing, Mich.; Kristina Kepic, Southlake, Texas; Olivia Kepic, Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Timothy, Steven and Sarah Bray, High Point. A memorial service will be Saturday, July 14, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Abingtons Church in Dalton, followed by a celebration of life lunch at an area restaurant. Interment will be private in Holy Family Cemetery, Throop.
