Laura Marino Obituary

Laura Ann Marino, age 63, passed away at Celtic Hospice Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018.

She was born in Pittston Hospital on June 29, 1954 and resided with her mother, Joan Marino.

She was preceded in death by her father Louis Joseph Marino and her nephew Dominick Dantone.

Laura was born with a unique set of challenges, which would shape the rest of her very special life. In a sense, she was just a 5-year-old with 58 years of experience. Laura loved people intensely, and without judgment. She never forgot a face and could tell you stories about people from so long ago, and with so much detail, you’d think she was making it up.

Laura took joy in the simple things. Watching reruns of her favorite shows, talking on the phone for hours with her best friend forever Geralyn Hogan, and doing word puzzles with her Mom (although she liked to cheat from the back of the book). Laura also took special joy in her stuffed pig, Arnold, who was always very close by.

Throughout her life, Laura’s family never saw what she could not do; only what she could do. She will be dearly missed both for her laughter and her love, and for facing her challenges with the strength and stubbornness of a fierce woman.

Along with her mother, Joan, Laura is also survived by sisters; Debra Marino, Joan Ranee Marino and brother Louis Marino. Nieces; Ranee Dantone and Aleigha Marino. Nephews; Thomas Alden Welby and wife Roxanne, Matthew Dantone, Mark Dantone and Louis Marino. Great nephews; Mason Dantone, Gavin Welby and great niece; Cara Mia Welby.

Memorial donations in Laura’s memory may be made to “Brighter Journeys”, 210 Division Street, Kingston, PA 18704. A local nonprofit organization providing help for special needs children and their families.

Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements were entrusted to Cremation Specialist Of Pennsylvania 728 Main Street Avoca, PA 18641.
